Sermon Recap | 06/28/2026

Date: June 28, 2026
Speaker: Rev. Ronnie Johnson
Series: Standalone
Sermon: That Wonderful Place
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17

Message Summary

Rev. Ronnie Johnson opened with Louisa Fletcher’s poem about a wonderful place called “the land of beginning again”—a place where our mistakes, heartaches, and selfish griefs could be taken off like an old, shabby coat and left behind forever. He connected this beautiful picture to the Apostle Paul’s teaching that anyone who is in Christ becomes a new creation.

That wonderful place is ultimately found in a wonderful Person: Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice on the cross, Christ paid the full price for our sins and made it possible for us to know God personally and intimately. When we come to Christ, our past no longer defines us. Our sins are forgiven, our old life is laid down, and a new life begins.

Rev. Johnson shared his own testimony of coming to faith as a teenager and described salvation as a “dawning”—the moment when the truth of God’s grace becomes real to us. No mistake is beyond Christ’s forgiveness, no heartache is outside His care, and no pit is so deep that He is not deeper still. In Christ, we are invited to lay down the shabby coat of the old life and walk with Him in the joy and freedom of beginning again.
